Overview

Arhibu Ethiopian and Eritrean Restaurant Inala offers a genuine taste of East Africa nestled within the vibrant Saigon Plaza. Specializing in Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine, this spot brings the rich culinary traditions of the Horn of Africa directly to Queensland. From its array of hearty stews and spiced meat combinations to their signature injera paired with an assortment of dips, the menu is a vibrant celebration of flavor and texture.

The restaurant's star dishes, such as the Meat Combination and Derek TIBS, along with the Key Wot - Arhibu Kitfo, showcase the depth of spice layering that East African cuisine is known for. For those seeking plant-based options, the vegetarian share platters and dishes like Shiro and Tikile Gomen offer equally satisfying complexity without compromising authenticity.

Dining at Arhibu is as much about the experience as the meal itself. The interactive method of eating with injera and hands invites patrons into the culture, supported thoughtfully by clean wash stations for ease and comfort. The atmosphere balances warmth and authenticity, with friendly service that connects guests to both the food and the stories behind it.

The intimate space, tucked just off the busy Inala Civic Centre, fosters a welcoming environment perfect for groups or those new to East African flavors. Its relative quietness amid a bustling shopping center allows for relaxed conversations and a genuine sense of connection. The owner’s hospitality is notable, often engaging diners with insights and recommendations, enriching the dining experience beyond mere sustenance.

Complimenting the cuisine is the traditional Ethiopian jebena coffee, brewed fresh from house-ground beans and served with incense. It elevates the meal to a cultural ritual, offering a sensory journey through scent and taste that lingers long after the last bite.

Arhibu stands out in Brisbane's food scene as a genuine offer of Ethiopian and Eritrean flavors, textures, and warmth. It is a destination for adventurous palates and those seeking a deep dive into East African culture through food. With generous portions, authentic seasoning, and a heartfelt welcome, it embodies the spirit of its culinary heritage in a friendly, unpretentious setting. First time eating African cuisine. I love curries, stews and spicy food so I was keen to try. It was delicious! A little confronting eating with my hands but they had a good wash station so I embraced it.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Arhibu Ethiopian and Eritrean Restaurant Inala and it was a wonderful experience. The highlight of our meal was the Arhibu share platter, which was a delightful assortment of East African flavours. The tender meats, seasoned perfectly with aromatic spices, and the variety of vegetables and sides made every bite a new adventure. It was a true feast that brought the vibrant culinary traditions of East Africa to life. To accompany our meal, we enjoyed a pot of jebena coffee. The rich, bold flavor of the coffee brewed in a traditional clay pot was the perfect complement to our meal. It was not just coffee; it was an experience that transported us to the heart of East Africa with each sip. I forgot to ask what beans they used as I’d love it as a daily every day! The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, bustling with newcomers and regulars and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was well priced considering the generous portions. Arhibu is a gem just outside of the often chaotic Inala Civic centre, and I can’t wait to return to explore more of their delicious menu. Highly recommended!

A very interesting experience, five of us loved the food that was served here. We had a mixed platter which was very interesting and delicious and contained various different types of meat and vegetables. A wonderful introduction to Ethiopian food. The whole shopping Centre almost seems to be straight out of Addis Ababa. She was very friendly but Only one Person cooking and serving, so it was quicker to get your own drinks. There were four other tables, but very spread out, so it was no problem to talk. The price was very good and.

Mulu served up the best share plate experience I’ve had in Brisbane. We got the meat combo for 3 and the vegetarian for 2. Every dish was packed with flavour, filling, and the injera soaked it all up perfectly. The spices didn’t blast your mouth, just deep, tasty heat. The Ethiopian coffee was a standout. Freshly brewed from house-ground beans, served with incense, it gave the whole table an atmosphere boost. Felt more like a cultural experience than just a meal. Mulu, the owner, was super warm and friendly, chatting with us and checking in. Her hospitality really tied it all together. If you’re after proper Ethiopian food in Brisbane, this place is a gem. Great for groups, share plates, and anyone chasing authentic flavour without the fuss. Here’s a video of their freshly roasted coffee beans:

Arhibu is not just a restaurant, it’s a homecoming wrapped in injera and a flavour explosion that will leave your transformed. The meat platter is a feast fit for kings: tender lamb slow-cooked in deep, earthy spices; chicken infused with berbere and simmered until it practically melts; rich beef stews layered with heat and heart. Every bite carries stories from the highlands, fiery, bold, and deeply comforting. The vegetarian platter is no side act, it’s a soul-stirring symphony. Silky lentils, fragrant cabbage, perfectly spiced split peas, and bright tomato salad, all lovingly laid out on pillowy, slightly tangy injera. It’s nourishment that feels like it was made by someone’s grandmother who knows exactly what you need. And then, the coffee. Freshly roasted on-site, its smoky aroma fills the air before the cup even hits your lips. Served with reverence and a smile, it’s more than a drink, it’s a sacred tradition. You’ll sip slowly, savour deeply, and wish you had room for one more. Mulu, the owner, is the heart and soul of Arhibu, so hospitable, so sweet, so deeply attentive. She doesn’t just serve food, she shares heritage, joy, and warmth in every interaction with a beautiful smile. And to top it all off? It’s genuinely affordable. If you’ve never tried Ethiopian or Eritrean cuisine, start here. If you have, prepare to fall in love all over again. This is more than a meal. It’s a memory.

This was our first time trying Ethiopian food, and we were blown away! We ordered one huge share plate that was packed with a variety of flavorful dishes served over soft, delicious injera bread. Sharing everything made the meal feel really communal and fun. It's perfect for groups, the more people, the better! The flavors were rich and unique, with something for everyone, including vegetarian and meat options. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. What really stood out was how affordable it all was, very cheap for the amount and quality of food. Plus, the hostess was incredibly friendly and generous, even giving us some extra items to try. Her hospitality made us feel truly welcome. If you’ve never tried Ethiopian cuisine before, this is the perfect place to start. Amazing food, amazing value, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend the share plates!

My wife and I ordered a share plate of key wot, lamb molokhia, yebeg alicha, and tikile gomen. The food was delicious! It was our first time trying East African cuisines and we're glad we did. The staff was friendly too.
